There are few safe bets in life, even fewer in the music business, however Niagara native and Country music’s hottest new star, Tim Hicks is soaring up the radio and digital charts and building a strong fan base early on with the success of his first single, “Get By,” currently Top 15 at Country Radio after only 6 weeks, making him as close to a sure thing as can be found.
Co-written by a collective of famed songwriters that includes the successful duo Florida Georgia Line (Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley), and Neil Sanderson from the multi-platinum rock band Three Days Grace, “Get By,” is the No. 1 selling Canadian Country digital track at iTunes (No. 11 on the overall chart), with over 10,000 tracks sold to date and a 28% increase this week – a noteworthy number for any Canadian Country artist. The single is moving quickly towards the top of the radio and digital charts highlighting once again that there is a strong pulse for well-crafted Country music in Canada.
Proclaimed ‘One To Watch’ following a successful Ontario run with the Boys Of Fall Tour in support of Dallas Smith and Chad Brownlee last November, Hicks exploded onto the scene with his debut single and is successfully doing his part to help define a genre that celebrates growing up in small towns, hard work, savouring every experience and living your life completely.
Recorded with hit producer and songwriter Jeff Coplan (Love And Theft), in Nashville, TN, Hicks’ debut EP, available digitally March 5th, is the sound of summer for Country music fans. From the tongue-in-cheek, “Just Add Water,” to the whimsical “Stronger Beer,” to the rocker “Hell Raising Good Time” and the fast-rising single “Get By,” fun abounds on Hicks’ introduction to Country music fans and the business alike. With equal parts grit, fun and camaraderie, the five tracks are a precisely rendered snapshot of what’s to come from this singer/songwriter who connects with his audience and touches them on a human level. It’s apparent that Hicks is ready for a big year of music and friends and in a world with few safe bets, he’s guaranteed to deliver.
